Tallula is a farming town of about 500 people in central Illinois, 20 miles northwest of Springfield via Route 97. The scenic drive passes through corn and soybean country along the Sangamon River valley. Most visitors arrive from Springfield after taking I-55 from Chicago or I-72 from east-west routes. The town's 1888 one-room schoolhouse still stands as a piece of frontier educational history.
