Taft is a small South Texas city of about 2,900 people, located 15 miles northwest of Corpus Christi via Highway 181. The main routes include Highway 181 from Corpus Christi, I-37 from San Antonio, and Highway 72 for east-west travel. The city was named after President William Howard Taft and still has its original 1906 railroad depot serving as a museum.
