Taft is a tiny community in eastern Oklahoma, about 15 miles southeast of Muskogee via State Highway 16. Most visitors arrive from Muskogee or Tulsa using US-69 and Highway 16. The area features rolling hills and woodland typical of the Arkansas River valley. Taft was established in the early 1900s as one of Oklahoma's African American towns and named after President William Howard Taft.
