Symerton is a tiny Will County village about 60 miles southwest of Chicago, reachable via I-55 to Exit 248. With just 132 residents, it sits amid flat prairie farmland connected by US Route 6 and local roads to Morris and Coal City. The community still operates one of Illinois' last active one-room schoolhouses.
