Sweetwater is a west Texas plains town about 40 miles west of Abilene on Interstate 20. It's the county seat and a regional center for ranch country, connected north-south by Highway 70 to Lubbock and San Angelo. Most visitors drive I-20 from Dallas (240 miles) or other Texas cities. The town hosts the world's largest rattlesnake roundup every March.
