Sutter Creek is a Gold Rush town in California's Sierra foothills, about an hour east of Sacramento via Highway 49. The scenic route winds through oak hills and connects historic mining communities throughout the region. Main Street features raised wooden sidewalks and Victorian buildings, including the Sutter Creek Inn, housed in an 1859 mansion built by a state senator.
