Sutherland is a small Nebraska town right on Interstate 80, about 20 miles east of North Platte. It's known mainly as the gateway to Lake McConaughy, the state's biggest lake with actual sandy beaches. Most people pass through on I-80 or take the old Lincoln Highway (US 30) that runs parallel. The lake draws boaters and campers from across the region during summer months.
