Superior is a tiny farming town of about 100 people in northwest Iowa's lake region. Highway 9 runs right through it, connecting to Spirit Lake 15 miles east and the Minnesota border 20 miles west. Most visitors arrive via I-35 from Des Moines or Minneapolis, then head west on Highway 9 through the Iowa Great Lakes area. The town's massive grain elevator serves as an unmistakable landmark visible for miles across the flat prairie landscape.
