Sunray is a small farming town in the Texas Panhandle, 40 miles northwest of Amarillo via US 287 and Highway 119. The area is classic Great Plains country with vast wheat fields and cattle ranches stretching under big skies. The town was named after the Sunray Oil Company from the 1930s, and its towering grain elevator remains visible for miles across the flat prairie landscape.
