Sundance sits along US Highway 14 in northeastern Wyoming's Black Hills foothills, about 30 miles south of Interstate 90. The county seat serves tourists heading to Devils Tower and connects Rapid City with Gillette via the scenic mountain highway. At 4,750 feet elevation, winters bring heavy snow while summers stay pleasantly cool. The town famously gave its name to Robert Redford's film festival after his youthful arrest here.
