Sun Valley is an upscale resort town in central Idaho's Wood River Valley, nestled between the Sawtooth and Pioneer Mountains at nearly 6,000 feet elevation. Most visitors drive Highway 75 from Boise (2.5 hours) or Twin Falls via Highway 93. The nearest airport is 12 miles south in Hailey. The Sun Valley Lodge, built in 1936 as America's first destination ski resort, still operates with its original chairlift system.
