Sumner is a farming town of 2,100 people in northeastern Iowa, sitting along the Wapsipinicon River valley. Highway 93 runs right through downtown, connecting to Highway 3 for east-west travel. Most visitors arrive from Waterloo-Cedar Falls, about 25 miles east via Highway 3, or take longer routes via Interstate 380 near Cedar Rapids. The town's 1902 opera house still hosts community theater and anchors the small downtown.
