Summit is a small Lexington County community about 15 miles northwest of Columbia via US Highway 378. The area sits on rolling Piedmont hills and connects to I-26 for longer trips to Charleston or the Upstate. Most traffic involves Columbia commuters making the 25-minute drive. The community earned its name from sitting on one of Lexington County's highest points at around 400 feet elevation.
