Summit is a small Cook County city about 15 miles southwest of Chicago, home to roughly 10,800 residents. I-55 runs right through town, connecting it north to Chicago and south toward St. Louis, while Route 171 handles local suburban traffic. The Tri-State Tollway (I-294) passes just west of the city. Chicago Midway Airport sits 8 miles northeast. Summit gets its name from sitting on one of Cook County's highest ridges, once a historic portage point between two rivers.
