Summerset is a growing community of about 3,000 people in western South Dakota's rolling hills, roughly 25 minutes northeast of Rapid City via Highway 44. Most visitors arrive on I-90 then Highway 79 north through Rapid City, while locals use the Highway 44 corridor for daily commutes. The town sits near Ellsworth Air Force Base and hosts South Dakota's largest small-town parade during its annual Summerset Days festival.
