Sultan is a small mountain town along US Highway 2, about an hour northeast of Seattle in the Cascade foothills. Most people reach it via Highway 2 from Monroe, making it a popular stop for skiers heading to Stevens Pass. The town of 6,100 sits where two rivers meet, surrounded by forested hills that turn brilliant green in the wet Pacific Northwest winters and golden in the dry summers. Sultan's historic bakery, operating since 1963 with traditional brick ovens, remains the town's biggest draw for visitors.
