Sugar Hill is a suburban city in northern Gwinnett County, about 40 miles northeast of Atlanta via I-85 and I-985. Exit 4 (Buford Drive) provides the main access point, while State Route 20 connects to nearby Buford and other north metro communities. The city sits in the Blue Ridge foothills with rolling terrain and got its distinctive name from a historic stagecoach stop where drivers would sugar their horses before climbing the steep hills.
