Suffern is a small city in New York's Rockland County, about 30 miles northwest of Manhattan in the Ramapo Mountains. Interstate 287 runs right through town, connecting east to the Tappan Zee Bridge and west into New Jersey. Route 17 provides the main north-south link, while Route 59 serves local east-west traffic. Most visitors arrive via I-287 from the NYC area or Route 17 from the Hudson Valley. The restored 1902 Erie Railroad station now houses a railroad museum while still serving active commuter trains to Manhattan.
