Sublette is a farming town of 1,500 in southwest Kansas, sitting at the crossroads of US Highway 83 and Kansas Highway 144. It's about 40 miles south of Dodge City and serves as Haskell County's seat. The area is classic High Plains wheat country with big skies and endless fields. The 1929 Art Deco courthouse downtown is considered one of rural Kansas's finest examples of the architectural style.
