Sturgis is a small western Kentucky city along the Green River, about 25 miles from Evansville, Indiana. US Highway 62 runs through town as the main route, connecting to Interstate 69 and the Western Kentucky Parkway for access from Louisville or Lexington. The city developed around coal mining and river commerce in the late 1800s, with old coal tipples that once loaded barges still marking where mining history met river transportation.
