Stratford is a farming town in the Texas Panhandle where US 54 and State Highway 15 intersect, about 60 miles northwest of Amarillo. The high plains community sits at 3,600 feet elevation among wheat and corn fields. US 54 connects north to Dalhart and south toward Amarillo, while Highway 15 runs east-west through Sherman County's agricultural areas. The 1922 Sherman County Courthouse features a distinctive red brick clock tower that serves as the town's most recognizable landmark.
