Stoughton is a small Wisconsin city of 13,000 people located 20 miles southeast of Madison via Highway 51. The town sits in Dane County's rolling farmland where the Yahara River flows through. Highway 138 connects east-west to Interstate 90, while Highway 51 provides the main north-south route to Madison and beyond. The city celebrates its Norwegian heritage each May with the Syttende Mai festival, one of the Midwest's largest Norwegian independence day celebrations.
