Stonewall is a tiny rural community in Pamlico County, reached via NC Highway 55 about 25 miles southeast of New Bern. The main route is US 17 to Highway 55, connecting this farming area between the coastal plain and Inner Banks. With just over 100 residents, it's named for the stone formations along Stonewall Creek where the highway crosses the waterway.
