Sterling is a small farming town of about 750 people in southwestern Oklahoma, 15 miles northeast of Lawton. Highway 65 runs north-south through town, connecting to Highway 7 for access from Lawton and continuing north to link with Interstate 44 near Chickasha. The town sits in rolling plains country with wheat fields and cattle pastures. Its historic grain elevator towers over the landscape as a landmark visible for miles.
