Sterling is a farming town of 2,400 in central Kansas, connected by US Highway 56 between McPherson and Great Bend. Most traffic comes from nearby Lyons (12 miles) and agricultural areas. The massive grain elevator complex from the 1920s dominates the skyline and remains fully operational.
