Steele is a small Alabama town of about 1,100 people located 45 miles northeast of Birmingham via Interstate 20 and US Highway 411. The town sits in St. Clair County's rolling hills along the Coosa River valley. US 411 serves as the main north-south route through town, while State Route 174 provides east-west access. The community still uses a restored 1950s fire engine for parades.
