State Center is a small farming town in central Iowa, about 15 miles northeast of Marshalltown via Highway 330. Most visitors arrive from US Highway 30 or I-35 to the west. The community of 1,400 sits amid rolling prairie and productive farmland typical of Iowa's Corn Belt. The town's main attraction is the restored Rose Hill School, a one-room schoolhouse from 1874 that now operates as a museum of pioneer-era education.
