Star Valley is a mountain community in central Arizona's Rim Country, sitting at 5,200 feet elevation with cooler temperatures than the desert below. Most visitors drive Highway 87 north from Phoenix (90 miles) through Payson, then continue east on State Route 260. The town serves as a gateway to Tonto National Forest recreation and features one of Arizona's few remaining natural grass airstrips from its ranching heritage.
