Standard City is a tiny farming community in central Illinois, about 50 miles from St. Louis and 30 minutes from Springfield via Route 29. With under 200 residents, it's surrounded by corn and soybean fields in Macoupin County. Most visitors arrive from Springfield on Route 29 or from St. Louis via I-55 and Route 16. The town was founded in 1903 as a Standard Oil company town and still has remnants of its industrial past.
