Stamford is a farming town of 178 people in south-central Nebraska's Harlan County. Highway 183 runs right through town, connecting north to Alma and south toward Kansas, while Highway 136 provides east-west access. Most visitors are passing through on agricultural business or heading to the county seat 15 miles north. The town's towering wooden grain elevator still operates and dominates the skyline.
