St. Paul forms the eastern half of Minnesota's Twin Cities with Minneapolis, connected by I-94 and I-35E through downtown. The Mississippi River runs between the cities, with dramatic limestone bluffs rising from the water. Most routes link the Twin Cities together or head to Chicago via I-94 east, Duluth on I-35 north, or Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport 12 miles southwest. The domed State Capitol sits on a prominent hill, visible from across the metro area.
