St. Clair is a small coal country town in Schuylkill County, about 15 miles southwest of Pottsville via Route 61. The borough sits in a typical anthracite region valley with forested hills and experiences the area's humid continental climate. Route 61 provides the main north-south connection, while Route 901 runs east-west through town for local access. Longer trips usually involve driving south on Route 61 to reach Interstate 78. The town hosts an annual firemen's fair featuring a popular demolition derby that's been running since 1954.
