St. Charles is a tiny lakeside community of 145 people on Bear Lake's Idaho shore, reached via scenic US-89 through Logan Canyon from Salt Lake City (140 miles) or from Pocatello via I-15 and mountain roads. The town sits at 5,900 feet in a dramatic valley setting. The 1881 stone Mormon church remains the centerpiece of this historic settlement.
