St. Charles is a tiny delta farming town of 250 people about an hour southeast of Little Rock via Highway 1 through DeWitt. The drive passes endless rice fields and soybean farms in Arkansas County's flat bottomland along the White River. The old Memphis and Little Rock Railroad bed still runs right through the middle of town.
