Springport is a small Jackson County village of 871 people, about 15 miles southwest of Jackson via M-60. Most visitors arrive from I-94, exiting at M-60 and driving west through Michigan farmland. The area features gently rolling terrain typical of southern Michigan's glacial landscape, with corn and soybean fields stretching between wooded areas. The village preserves a one-room schoolhouse from 1868, now a historical landmark that operated until 1967.
