Springerville is a high-elevation mountain town at 7,000 feet in Arizona's White Mountains, about 220 miles northeast of Phoenix via scenic US Highway 60. The route climbs through the dramatic Salt River Canyon before reaching this community of 2,000 surrounded by pine forests. Highway 191 connects south to Alpine and the Apache National Forest. The town sits just three miles from New Mexico in a mountain valley it shares with neighboring Eagar.
