Springerton is a tiny farming town in southeastern Illinois, accessible via State Route 14 about 20 miles west of the Indiana border. Most drivers reach it from Interstate 64 at the Crossville exit or by taking Route 14 east from Mount Vernon. The surrounding countryside features rich agricultural land near the Little Wabash River bottoms, where seasonal flooding creates exceptionally fertile soil that supports some of southern Illinois's most productive farms.
