Spavinaw is a small northeastern Oklahoma town of 359 people, about 45 miles east of Tulsa via US-69 north to Highway 20 east. Most visitors connect through Pryor Creek or Claremore on rural roads serving the Illinois River valley farming area. The town's name comes from a Cherokee word meaning "Spaniard."
