The town sits in Kent County's rolling farmland, where the Rogue River winds through a mix of agricultural land and woodlots. US-131 provides the main connection south to Grand Rapids and north toward Cadillac, while State Route 37 runs east-west through town. The area's biggest draw is the annual Sparta Harvest Festival each September, featuring a popular corn maze that attracts visitors from across the region.
