Sparks sits just east of Reno in Nevada's high desert, connected by a quick five-mile drive on Interstate 80. The city serves as a gateway for travelers heading between California and points east, with I-80 and US 395 forming the main traffic arteries. Reno-Tahoe International Airport is about 8 miles southwest via I-80. The downtown Victorian Square district centers around a working antique carousel that's been delighting visitors since the 1980s.
