Southside Place is a tiny city completely surrounded by Houston, sitting between Rice University and the Texas Medical Center about 6 miles southwest of downtown. Most visitors arrive via Main Street or Fannin from downtown, or take US 59/I-69 to Kirby Drive from the west. The community covers less than half a square mile but maintains its own services. The city hall operates out of a converted 1950s ranch house, making it one of the smallest municipal buildings in Texas.
