Somonauk is a small DeKalb County town about 60 miles west of Chicago, reached via I-88 to the Somonauk Road exit or directly on Route 34 from Aurora. The farming community of 1,600 sits in rolling prairie country along the Fox River valley. Most visitors arrive on Route 34, which runs straight through downtown and connects to major regional highways. The restored 1876 railroad depot now serves as a museum with vintage train cars.
