The town sits in rolling Piedmont hills with easy highway access to Atlanta (one hour west) and Augusta (90 minutes east). State Route 11 runs north-south through downtown, connecting to Commerce and surrounding communities. Many residents commute to Atlanta jobs while enjoying small-town living. The city got its distinctive name from an old tradition where townspeople would gather in a circle on the square to share news and gossip.
