Smoaks is a tiny rural community in South Carolina's Colleton County, about 50 miles west of Charleston. The town sits at the intersection of US Highway 21 and State Route 64, with US 21 providing the main north-south route from Beaufort to Columbia. Most visitors access the area via Interstate 95, about 20 miles east through Walterboro. The Smoak family plantation gave the town its name, and its post office has operated since 1900.
