Smithland is a tiny river town of 200 people where the Cumberland and Ohio Rivers meet in western Kentucky. You'll reach it via US Highway 62, which connects to Interstate 24 and larger towns like Paducah 30 miles west. The town still operates a historic cable ferry across the Cumberland River, one of the few remaining in Kentucky.
