Smithfield is a tiny Kentucky community of about 150 people in Henry County, roughly 35 miles northeast of Louisville. Most visitors arrive via Interstate 71 to Exit 22, then follow Highway 146 east through the rolling hills typical of this part of the Ohio River valley. The town's post office has operated continuously since 1882, one of Henry County's oldest.
