Skykomish is a tiny mountain railroad town on US Highway 2, about 90 minutes northeast of Seattle near Stevens Pass. The scenic drive through the Cascades passes Gold Bar and Index before reaching this community of under 100 residents. Highway 2 continues east toward Leavenworth, making it a popular route for cross-state travel. The restored 1922 train depot houses a railroad museum with vintage equipment.
