Skellytown is a small Texas Panhandle oil town of 457 people, located 30 miles northeast of Amarillo on Highway 207. Most visitors drive from Amarillo via Highway 60 east to Panhandle, then north on 207. The town sits on rolling plains dotted with oil equipment and was named after William Skelly, founder of Skelly Oil Company, which established operations here in the 1920s.
