Simpson is a tiny Johnson County community of about 40 people in southern Illinois, sitting along Route 146 about 15 miles northeast of Vienna. Most visitors arrive via I-57 to Route 146, or from Route 37 connecting to county roads. The area's rolling, wooded terrain contrasts with typical Illinois flatland, and you can still spot traces of the old Illinois Central Railroad corridor running through town.
