Silver Plume is a tiny mountain town of 127 people sitting at over 9,000 feet in the Colorado Rockies. Take I-70 west from Denver about 50 miles to Exit 226, then follow US 6 into town. The scenic drive winds through Clear Creek canyon with dramatic peaks on both sides. Winter brings heavy snow, while summers are mild and perfect for exploring old mining sites. The Georgetown Loop Railroad's Devil's Gate High Bridge towers 95 feet above the creek, carrying vintage trains on a spectacular curved trestle.
